Welcome! I'm a Contemporary Folk Artist inspired by color, whimsy, animals and words. My current work features mainly original designs with lots of liberated piecing, applique, and stitchwork.
When I'm not stitching, I love to take photos, travel and read anything I can get my hands on. I often listen to audio books or NPR because I can stitch at the same time.
My academic background is in field biology, and I worked as a Bird Banding Biologist for several years. I homeschooled my children for many years and that was a full time job. I am now at a time in my life where I can decide how to arrange my days and I'm reveling in the freedom.
I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world~ Central Oregon. We have lots of sunny days, clear skies, a river that runs through town and the snow capped Cascades just minutes away. I've moved more times than I can remember and have lived extensively in New England, California and even a year in Hawaii, but we've called Bend home for 8 years now.
Occasionally my family will feature in my posts. My husband, Mark, is a golfer and my travelmate. Chloe is a college freshman, studying Anthropology, who loves to write, make art, and travel the world. Ryan is a high school junior who always has a smile and a story to tell . Our only pet is a 7 year old Shih Tzu named Scrabble. He's my little white shadow and loves to join me in the studio.
I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures and that you'll join in with a comment now and then. It's always nice to hear from readers and I try to respond whenever possible.
